Japan from K9OX

I watched all the Japanese operators pileup for HH2AA Haiti on Saturday morning. On Sunday morning I worked my first Japanese station, the first contact outside of North America (new countries show red).

Jun says, I was born in 1951 and have been licensed since 1965. In those days 10 watts TX of AM and CW used to be main gears for many Japanese hams, and I also used it, TX of UY807 vacuum tube. My 1st DX contact was with a station in CA, USA, on 10m band AM. qrz

At present, everything about ham radio has been changed, and also my gear changed as bellow.

Rig : FT-2000D +VL1000 linear amplifier, Yaesu. Maximum power is 1KW.

Ant : Versa Beam KA1 206, Kojinsha, for 14MHz to 50MHz bands. This is equipped with 6 adjustable elements. 2 Elements HB9CV for 7MHz and 10MHz band. 50% shortened dipole for 3.5/3.8MHz band. 40m long T shaped vertical for 1.8MHz band. (Using a loading coil, it is electrically tuned at a half wave length.)

They are put on top of a crank up tower of LUSO of 28m high. site
